Eric Velasco
EXPERIENCE
Eric Edgardo Velasco Caballero holds a degree in Law and Political Science from the University of Panama. He also holds postgraduate studies, including a Master’s Degree in Business Law from the Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencias y Tecnología (ULACIT), a Master’s Degree in Procedural Law from the Universidad Interamericana de Panamá, and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedural Law from the Institute of Legal Studies and Research of Nicaragua.
He has received specialized training in Intellectual Property Law from the Center for Comparative Law Studies of Kyoto, Japan, and from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy, strengthening his professional background in accordance with international standards.
For more than twenty (20) years, he developed his professional career within the Judicial Branch of the Republic of Panama, where he served in positions such as Municipal Judge, Special Deputy Circuit Judge, Executive Assistant in the Jurisdiction of Free Competition and Consumer Affairs, and Assistant to the Second Criminal Chamber, as well as to the First Civil Chamber and the Third Chamber of Administrative Litigation of the Supreme Court of Justice of Panama.
Subsequently, he served as National Director of Copyright at the Ministry of Culture of Panama, participating in the formulation, implementation, and oversight of public policies related to copyright and related rights.
His professional career is based on the experience acquired in the judicial and administrative fields, as well as on his academic training in the areas of competition law, consumer protection law, and intellectual property law.
